Pharmacists and their staff play an important role in their communities by helping people achieve better health and they are ideally placed to offer healthy lifestyle advice to their patients and customers, particularly when dispensing their prescriptions.

Under the community pharmacy contractual framework in England they are expected to give advice to people with diabetes, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure and those who smoke or are overweight. In addition, they are also expected to provide advice and support for carers to help them in their caring roles.

The resources on this website have been designed to give pharmacists and their staff background information on brief advice (general health advice) and brief interventions (more in-depth discussions on single health topics) to help them deliver healthy lifestyle interventions.
